There is no greater way to honor the memory of Sidney Barthwell Jr. than by giving promising scholars the opportunity to change their life trajectory through a scholarship to Cranbrook School.

In honor of his dear Cranbrook friend, Jim Bailey and his wife, Kelley, recently made a $200,000 gift to endow The Honorable Sidney Barthwell Jr. Scholarship Fund at Cranbrook Upper School. The scholarship will provide four years of tuition and room and board to an underrepresented, academically gifted scholar from an under resourced community who shares and demonstrates Sidney’s passion for leadership, community, and equity.

The fund is seeking other donors to help build its assets with the objective of supporting multiple Barthwell scholars at Cranbrook and eventually expand the scope to other schools nationwide.

If you would like to have a profound impact on a young person’s life, The Honorable Sidney Barthwell Jr. Scholarship Fund is now accepting tax-deductible contributions.

Your gift will help empower future leaders by giving them access to a life-changing experience and a world-class education. In addition, you will become a valued member of an exclusive community—the Sidney Barthwell Jr. Scholarship Fund family—that will mentor and support the cohort of Barthwell scholars at Cranbrook and beyond.

All donations are tax deductible. The Fund is administered through the Baileys’ private foundation, the JK Knights Foundation. The scholarship selection process is managed by Cranbrook School.

Donations in any amount are welcome. The contribution for endowing a full four-year scholarship is $200,000.

Thank you for your support.
